Dental Emergencies: We're Here to Help

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. It's always a good idea to seek a second opinion from a qualified health professional before proceeding with treatment.

Dental emergencies can happen unexpectedly - whether it's cracking a tooth while eating or waking up with jaw pain and swelling. When these situations arise, we're here to help you get back on track.

If you're dealing with a toothache, a lost filling or crown, or any other dental discomfort, don't hesitate to contact our clinic. We'll quickly assess your situation, relieve your pain, and create a treatment plan to address your needs.

Immediate Relief from Pain and Discomfort

Emergency dental care provides fast and effective solutions for severe toothaches, dental injuries, or infections. By addressing the issue promptly, patients can experience immediate relief, restoring their comfort and peace of mind.

Prevents Further Damage

Acting quickly during a dental emergency can prevent a minor problem from escalating into a more serious condition. Whether it's saving a knocked-out tooth, treating an infection, or stopping bleeding, timely care helps protect your oral health and avoid costly, invasive treatments later.

Restores Function and Aesthetics

Emergency dental care not only addresses pain but also ensures your teeth, gums, and smile are restored to normal. This allows patients to return to daily activities, like eating and speaking, without ongoing discomfort or self-consciousness.

Sam B

“Have had the misfortune of seeing many dentists, and Peninsula has to be one of, if not the best practice I've dealt with. Dr Mostafa is outstanding at what he does. Would highly recommend.”

Common Reasons for Emergency Dental Care

Dental emergencies can happen at any time. Here are some of the most common reasons people need urgent care:

Sudden Tooth Pain

Severe tooth pain with no obvious cause should never be ignored. It could be a sign of serious conditions such as:

  • Deep Cavities

  • Advanced Gum Disease

  • An Abscessed Tooth

  • Exposed Tooth Roots

  • An Impacted Tooth

These issues should be addressed quickly to prevent further damage or infection.

Chipped or Broken Teeth

Teeth can chip or fracture due to trauma, biting on something hard, or sometimes from an undiagnosed cavity weakening the tooth. If a piece of your tooth breaks off, try to keep it and bring it with you to your appointment for possible restoration.

Lost Teeth

Losing a tooth, whether due to an injury or unexplained causes, is always an emergency. If you act fast, we may be able to save the tooth. Here's what you can do:

  • Gently rinse the tooth with cool water (avoid touching the root)
  • If possible, try to place the tooth back in its socket, but don't force it.
  • If you can't replace the tooth, store it in a glass of milk until you can get to us.

Frequently Asked Questions

The goal of an emergency dental appointment is to address the immediate need, resolve your problem and relieve your pain. If we believe further care is needed, we will arrange a regular appointment for you to follow up so we can plan appropriate treatment to prevent future problems.

Other Reasons You May Need Emergency Dental Care

In addition to the common dental emergencies listed, you may need to see us quickly if you experience:

  • A tooth that has been loosened (but not fully knocked out)
  • An object stuck between your teeth that can't be removed with brushing or floss
  • A lost filling or crown
  • Signs of a dental abscess (infection)
  • Injury to your gums or the roof of your mouth

If you're dealing with any of these issues, don't wait - contact our office to schedule an emergency appointment. We welcome new patients in urgent need of care and are here to help restore your oral health and your smile!
